Our Origin

At Solids Development, we see ourselves as experts for development and production of solid dosage forms. True to our motto „Filling the gaps between pharma and technology“ we therefore unite expertise on pharmaceutics and technology. We do not only have a sound scientific background but also excel in practical experience: In our lab or with you on-site, we perform target-oriented trials. During these trials, we always keep one eye on the future practicability within your production setting.

Solids Development was founded in 2014 by Barbara Fretter and Rob (Robert Frank) Lammens. The company emerged from the joint work at the University of Bonn, where the founders worked together on third-party funded projects. These basically had the same focus as our current projects. Therefore, we already have many years of experience in the field of pharmaceutical technology even though the company Solids Development is still young. Rob Lammens actually brings more than 40 years of experience in pharmaceutical technology to the table. Before starting his own business, he worked at the Bayer AG for 23 years. There, he managed and carried out instrumentation projects on machines and facilities that were to increase process understanding. Barbara Fretter also has more than 15 years of experience in the field of PT.

Since 2016, Maarten Lammens has strengthened our management. After graduating in business informatics, he worked for a large IT and management consulting firm until joining Solids Development.

Solids Development‘s first premises were located in Siegburg. With the increasing need for space and the planning for an OEB 5 laboratory becoming more concrete, the company moved to Leverkusen in 2017, and thus back to Rob‘s domain and „home port“. At the end of 2018, Rob Lammens handed over the operational management to Barbara Fretter and Maarten Lammens. However, he has continued ever since to dedicate himself passionately to our clients‘ pharmaceutical-technological challenges, such as
