– Combining Support in Roller Compaction Trials with Advanced Training
Situation at first contact
A big pharmaceutical company wanted to transfer several products to a new roller compactor at their site in India. As the experience with the new roller compactor was limited, they contacted us to support them with the trial design for some technical batches to establish the settings of the validation batches.
Our Approach
Step 1 – Analyzing the Customers’ Needs
From the initial discussions we learned that the site actually needed two things. Firstly, quick help with the planning and implementation of the technical batches and secondly, training that went beyond the normal operator training to enable them to conduct such trials on their own. What could be better than combining the two?
Step 2 – On-Site Trials with Hands-On Training
During one week in India, we performed technical trials for four different products which help to identify the CPPs, CMAs and the design space in which the four products could be manufactured in spec. Additionally, several employees of the customer were trained how to plan and conduct meaningful trials in dry granulations. This program was only possible by detailed planning and the excellent support of the customer.
Result
After the one-week training, the setting of the validation batches could be defined, and the validation batches could be produced smoothly.
